MISSION: The Sustainable Arts Society at Blue Ridge is an organization fostering creative endeavors in visual arts, music, dance, drama, writing, and environmental sustainability in the rural, pristine setting of the North Georgia Mountains of Southern Appalachia.

The Cochran-Davenport farmstead and the Dial Community adjacent to us were the first settlers' community in this part of the North Georgia mountains. Much of the charm and rustic feel of the original homestead has been preserved.

Our version of Rocking Out

Beautiful out buildings from the original homestead cover the property. The Spring House, shown here, hovers over the bank of the historic Toccoa River. Artists are invited to use the elements of the farm in their creative pursuits.

VISION: The Sustainable Arts Society at Blue Ridge envisions the establishment of a community facility in perpetuity, where individuals and groups will be empowered to:

  • Create works of significance in the arts and in environmental conservation
  • Share creativity with fellow Society members-in-residence
  • Produce creative content available to the local rural community at large
  • Cultivate positive intellectual growth and change
  • Preserve the cultural and environmental integrity of this unique, historic family farm setting

"Artists' Communities have been described as the 'Research and Development' arm of the arts, focusing more on the process of creativity than its products, by supporting artists in their creative research and risk taking in environments rich in stimulation and fellowship."

Caitlin Strokosch Glass, Program and Communications Director, Alliance of Artists Communities
